Clara Drummond, Mark Dunford, Arthur Neal & Pippa Ridley

19 May - 23 June 2007

Clara Drummond, a tutor at the Prince’s Drawing School in London, produces work that is deeply informed by drawing. After studying at the Accademia in Rome, Drummond has continued her path as a painter. Exhibiting a series of delicate silverpoint drawings, alongside her countryside scenes, there is a strong sense of the decorative in her oil paintings.

Mark Dunford is a figurative painter whose striking works demand repeated viewings. Dunford attended the Slade School of Fine Art and studied under many of the most important tutors of the day including Euan Uglow and Sir Lawrence Gowing. Dunford, who lives and works in Cornwall, has exhibited widely including group shows at the Barbican and the Dulwich Picture Gallery, London. He also exhibits regularly with The London Group of which he has been an elected member since 2001.

Arthur Neal attended Camberwell School of Art and is an elected member of the New English Art Club. The authority and relish of Neal’s work is given extra emphasis by his precise and careful arrangements of harmonious colour and tone. This, combined with Neal’s concise and textural brushwork, produces paintings that deliver an impact regardless of their size.

Pippa Ridley studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, the New York Academy and studied as well as taught at the Prince's Drawing School. Ridley’s painterly touch and flickering brushstrokes imbue her small intimate and assured landscapes with a sense of immediacy. This is the first presentation of the artist’s work in Cornwall.
